بہت مشکلات ہیں زندگی میں مرشد لیکن

نشہ پلا کے گرانا تو سب کو آتا ہے
مزا تو تب ہے کہ گرتوں کو تھام لے ساقی

تو شاہیں ہے پرواز ہے کام تیرا
ترے سامنے آسماں اور بھی ہیں

ترے عشق کی انتہا چاہتا ہوں
مری سادگی دیکھ کیا چاہتا ہوں

مانا کہ تیری دید کے قابل نہیں ہوں میں
تو میرا شوق دیکھ مرا انتظار دیکھ

خودی کو کر بلند اتنا کہ ہر تقدیر سے پہلے
خدا بندے سے خود پوچھے بتا تیری رضا کیا ہے

نہ تو زمین کے لئے ہے نہ آ سمان کے لئے,
جہاں ہے تیرے لئے ،تو نہیں جہاں کے لئے

پرندوں کی دُنیا کا درویش ہوں میں,
کہ شاہین بناتا نہیں آشیانہ

شاہین کبھی پرواز سے گِر کر نہیں مرتا,
پر دم ہے اگرتو، تو نہیں خطرۂ افتاد۔

ذرا سی بات تھی ،اندیشہ عجم نے اسے,
بڑھا دیا ہے فقط زیبِ داستان کے لئے

ڈھو نڈتا پھرتا ہوں اے اقبال اپنے آ پ کو,
آ پ ہی گویا مسافر آ پ ہی منزل ہوں میں

علم نے مجھ سے کہا عشق ہے دیوانہ پن,
عشق نے مجھ سے کہا علم ہے تخمینِ وظن۔
